Actress Amanda Bynes, 26, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Friday morning. A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy marked car was preparing to turn right onto Santa Monica Boulevard from Robertson Boulevard when Bynes clipped the Deputy’s vehicle.
According to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department, “…a black BMW driven by actress Amanda Bynes attempted to pass the right of the radio car, colliding with the right rear quarter panel of the radio car.”
Bynes was booked and remained in custody on Friday morning with bail purportedly set at $5,000.
On Monday, Bynes’s father Rick publicly supported his daughter to People.com that Bynes was not drunk, just emotional. “I was told she blew a zero on the breathalyzer. She didn’t have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn’t even drink.” Rick went on to fault the Sheriff Deputy for the accident by claiming that the deputy pulled in front of his daughter as she was driving.
Last month Bynes was pulled over for talking on her cell phone while driving.
There have been no public statements or comments from Bynes’s publicist or lawyer.
