It seems we have something else to be thankful for; fewer drunk drivers on the roads this past Thanksgiving weekend.
The California Highway Patrol has reported that law enforcement mad 81 DUI arrests in Los Angeles County this past weekend. This is 37 less than last year’s 118 arrests. In addition, there were no traffic-related deaths in Los Angeles.
The holiday DUI reporting period began at 6pm on Wednesday, November 27th and ended at 6am on Friday, November 29th.
In the same period last year, CHP reported six traffic-related deaths statewide and 455 DUI arrests statewide. This year, however, there were only two-traffic related deaths statewide and 401 DUI arrests statewide.
While law enforcement efforts will continue to target drunk driving throughout California, let’s hope this trend of sober driving continues throughout the remainder of the holiday season.
