Author Melissa Marr once wrote that “love will make you foolish. It makes you throw every bit of logic away, do stupid things, dangerous things.” She could not have been more right, at least not for 46-year old Sara L. Wood.
The Waynesboro, Virginian woman allegedly drove to the scene of her boyfriend’s DUI and was arrested, herself, for driving there drunk.
James J. Nitz, 42, from Stauton, Virginia was arrested last week for driving under the influence.
While officers waited for a tow truck to tow Nitz’s vehicle, his girlfriend, Sara L. Wood called the Waynesboro Emergency Operations Center asking if she could do anything to help her boyfriend. Officers told Wood that there was nothing for her to do and to not drive if she had been drinking alcohol.
Wood did not listen and drove to the scene of Nitz’s DUI where the officers were still waiting for the tow truck. When the officer approached Wood, she showed signs of intoxication and was subsequently arrested, herself, on suspicion of driving under the influence. Only 37 minutes had passed since Nitz’s DUI arrest.
As of Friday, both were being held at Middle River Regional Jail awaiting bond hearings.
Although they say “love knows no bounds,” for Nitz and Wood, their jail cells are certainly keeping them apart for the time being.
