On Wednesday April 8th, Dawn Allen tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident caused by an alleged DUI driver. And the allegedly drunk motorcyclist was her own husband.
The deadly crash happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 5. According to Washington State Patrol, the married couple headed northbound on the motorcycle when the driver suddenly veered off the road near Lynnwood.
Due to the crash, both riders were ejected from the motorcycle.
Unfortunately, first responders pronounced Dawn Allen of Everett dead at the scene. An autopsy report later showed that she died of blunt-force trauma. EMS transported her husband to an Everett hospital after they noticed he sustained critical injuries.
Investigators suspect Allen’s husband had been driving while impaired. Therefore, he may be arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and DUI, according to the WSP crash report. He currently stays in the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Until more information comes out, authorities have yet to put him into jail.
Further investigation is needed to figure out other factors that played a role in this alleged DUI case. If the blood alcohol test reveals a BAC level of 0.08 or higher, the motorcyclist will face additional charges. For drunk drivers that cause bodily harm or death, they will be subject to criminal charges during their investigation.
